The Climate Resilient Cereals Innovation Lab (CRCIL) at Kansas State University convened with international partners in Senegal September 15-19, 2025 to review two years of collaborative research aimed at strengthening food security in challenging climates. Benjamin Osae attended the CRCIL meeting as the representative for the Wheat Genetics Resource Center (WGRC).

Representatives from ISRA-CERAAS, Clemson University, Kansas State University, and the University of Florida gathered to present findings from short-term projects and core-funded initiatives supporting ongoing research and technology development.

The collaboration focuses on four critical cereal crops that serve as dietary staples across vulnerable regions: rice, wheat, sorghum, and millet. Through their work, the teams are working to discover, validate, and enhance germplasm that can withstand increasingly unpredictable climate conditions.
