Six members of the WGRC, including two PhD students, attended the annual Plant and Animal Genome (PAG) conference in San Diego, CA from January 9-14, 2026. Dr. Zitong Yu, Dr. Jason Zurn, Yoonha Ju, Buket Sahin, & Dr. Yan Li presented posters during the conference showcasing their research on the following topics: stem rust, stripe rust, ancestry of wheat and wild wheat relatives, broadening allelic diversity in wheat, and CRISPR/Cas9 Engineered Cis-Regulatory Variants of GRF4 in Wheat. Director of the WGRC, Dr. Eduard Akhunov, gave an oral presentation titled “Harnessing Chromosome 5Mg of Aegilops geniculata to Induce Genome-Wide Homoeologous Recombination between Wheat and Its Wild Relatives.”
