Sarah earned two B.S. degrees from Utah State University: Biology and Biological Science Composite Teaching with a minor in Chemistry Teaching. She taught 8th grade science and 9th grade Biology at a junior high in Utah for two years. A military assignment for her husband brought Sarah to Kansas where she worked as a Research Assistant at Kansas State University's Integrated Genomics Facility (IGF). As a Research Assistant, she made NGS libraries for sequencing on the Illumina MiSeq and Illumina NextSeq 500. In September 2022, Sarah transitioned to her current position as a Program/Project Coordinator for the WGRC and Akhunov lab. In 2023, Sarah earned her M.S. in Academic Advising from Kansas State University.Sarah Bastian
