John Raupp

Jon RauppJohn has managed the wheat genetic resources and wild germplasm for the Wheat Genetics Resource Center Gene Bank since August 1980 from a small collection of ~300 lines to over 10,000 at present. Research topics have included wheat cytology and chromosome analysis, screening for pest resistance in wild wheat relatives, and molecular approaches to curating wheat accessions using various DNA sequencing techniques. John has contributed to the development of many wheat stocks used in wheat improvement worldwide and improved wheat germplasm. Since 1994, he has published the Annual Wheat Newsletter with contributions from wheat scientists worldwide. To date, John is a coauthor on over 30 publications in peer reviewed journals and 27 book chapters, in addition to helping illustrate a textbook on cytogenetics in 1994.
